About this calculator
GPA, or grade point average, combines the grade points from your courses while accounting for how many credits each course is worth. This calculator uses a common unweighted 4.0 scale and weights each course by its credit value.
How to use it
- Add each course you want to include.
- Choose the letter grade you earned and enter the course credits.
- Read your estimated GPA and total credits instantly.
How GPA is calculated
GPA = total grade points earned ÷ total credits attempted
For each course, the grade-point value is multiplied by its credits. Those quality points are added together, then divided by the total credits.
Example
An A in a 3-credit course contributes 12 grade points on a 4.0 scale. A B in a 4-credit course contributes 12 more. Together, those two courses produce 24 grade points across 7 credits.
GPA scales vary between schools and countries. Check your institution's grading policy if it uses different grade-point values, weighted honors/AP points, or another GPA scale.
